I really wanted to like this place, especially with how old and significant it’s supposed to be, but it just felt neglected. The atmosphere was dull, and there wasn’t much care or respect shown for the site. What bothered me most was that expectations kept shifting, one thing was implied at first, then it felt like the goalposts moved once I was there. I left feeling disappointed and like it could’ve been handled so much better

I visited a couple of the sites and, while some parts were genuinely interesting, I came away feeling like the tickets were expensive for what was included. Compared with other similar attractions I’ve been to, there wasn’t as much information, interaction, or extra value to justify the price. The places themselves are nice and worth seeing if you’re really interested, but overall it felt like poor value for money to me.

I stopped by with a few questions and expected the staff to know a bit more, especially given it’s a historic site. One person was friendly enough, so I’ll give them credit for that, but the answers we got felt a little uncertain and rushed. It wasn’t a terrible experience by any means, just not quite as helpful or informative as I was hoping

I was expecting a bit more depth, but uh, the stories just felt kind of thin and boring to me. There wasn’t much history explained, so it didn’t really hold my interest

I went to one of their sites recently and the whole thing felt chaotic. The queue barely moved, nobody seemed to know what was going on, staff weren’t really explaining anything clearly, it just made everyone more confused. It felt like they had let way too many people in for the space. We spent most of the time stuck behind crowds instead of actually enjoying anything, people were pushing in and it got stressful fast. I wouldn’t bother going again

The wheelchair access was disappointing. Some parts felt manageable, but overall it was hit or miss, and the toilets were way too far away to be practical...

I was just trying to book tickets on historicenvironment.scot, and somehow it turned into this dramatic little ordeal. The site kept freezing right when I thought I was getting somewhere, and I ended up having to start over twice, which was maddening. Then the payment went through, but the confirmation email took so long to arrive that I was sitting there wondering if I’d actually booked anything or just sent money into the void. Not exactly the vibe you want when you’re planning a nice day out. The whole booking process really needs sorting.
